Job Summary
The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the track & field program at Saint Elizabeth University. This position is responsible for recruiting qualified student-athletes to the university. Furthermore, this position will be responsible for the supervision of practices and the instruction of sport-specific skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the recruitment of qualified student-athletes in accordance with university standards.
- Direct, mentor, and motivate athletes to prepare for competition through practices and skill development.
- Work closely with Athletic Trainer for the care and prevention of athletic injuries, including the development of off-season and pre-season conditioning programs
- Ensure all SEU track & field athletes meet NCAA, United East, and institutional compliance standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the NCAA manual.
- Comply with all applicable Federal, State, local laws.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress towards degree and GPA to ensure their eligibility and retention
- Work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse student-athlete, student, faculty, staff population.
- Attend and participate in departmental, conference, and university-wide meetings, regional and national committees related to duties and responsibilities.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Administration and the head coach reserve the right to add or change job duties at any time.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and previous, successful coaching/administrative experience at the college level preferred. Must also possess:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Recruiting experience
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
- CPR/AED Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Valid Driver’s License
