The Chaplain 1 positions are managed by the Chaplain Manager in partnership with the Regional Director of Spiritual Care to staff the Spiritual Care Department at their assigned hospital(s). This department is responsible for the management and quality of religious and spiritual care of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. The Chaplain will be responsible for the religious and spiritual needs of the patients, families, and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. The Chaplain will respond in a timely manner to all requests for spiritual care and assistance. The Chaplain will assess the religious and spiritual needs of the client, and address or assist in addressing these needs whenever possible. The Chaplain will offer spiritual support and guidance where appropriate. This position adheres and ensures the mission is integrated with ethical values into patient care and spiritual care delivery. These positions are expected to provide support during a Hospital Emergency at the Incident Command, if needed, relative to their role of psychosocial support. Performs related responsibilities as required.
The Chaplain 1 position consistently demonstrates clinical excellence and professional standards, with a focus on achieving board certification. Chaplain 1 is expected to identify and obtain necessary training for their chosen chaplain specialty. This role should develop research competency and engage in best practices utilized across health system.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- Ordination in a recognized ecclesial tradition. In good standing with the ecclesial authority and in good standing with their faith organization.
- Minimum of one (1) year in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care.
- Previous pastoral care experience within healthcare preferred.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
