Saint Mary's High School is looking for a Controller.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of Saint Marys High School. The Controller will
report to the President. Direct Reports: A/P Specialist, A/R Specialist and Staff Accountant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts
receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll posting.
2. Oversees training of accounting staff and identifies training needs.
3. Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls
over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
4. Oversees the production of monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with
generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
5. Provides regular and accurate financial reporting to department heads and athletic teams as well as
assistance in resolving any questions or concerns. Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure
the financial performance of Saint Marys High School.
6. Works with external auditors and performs high level audit tasks for the annual audit.
7. Files quarterly and annual reports with the required entities (EDD, CDTFA, IRS, etc.).
8. Responsible for payroll posting and payroll account management
9. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
10. Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

4. Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
6. Proficient in Blackbaud Financial Edge or MIP accounting software. Proficiency with other systems may
be considered.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration strongly preferred.
2. Five years or more of related experience required.
3. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
