Job Description
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Clinical Coordinator (NCC) will facilitate the clinical learning experiences for the BSN program. The NCC will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the clinical partnership, clinical placement requests, and clinical shift scheduling. The NCC will professionally interface with several major healthcare organizations throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other states on behalf of the program and students. The NCC also works closely with the Nursing Department Coordinator to ensure all students and faculty meet credentialing requirements. This position is critical in helping the BSN program meet its mission of preparing compassionate, competent, and professional nurses through a transformative and holistic curriculum.
Annual Range: $45k - $50k
Position Responsibilities
Clinical Partnerships:
- Maintaining compliance with multiple healthcare system affiliation agreements and site regulations to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
- Collaborate with the University General Counsel for new or updated contracts.
- Maintain accurate Clinical Partner Files with meeting minutes and key notes.
- Coordinate and participate in clinical site visits to each site on an annual basis with the Director of Nursing
- Nurture Academic-Practice Partnerships with Clinical Partners ensuring they are invited to the Nursing Blessing Ceremony, Pinning Ceremony, and other important events.
Clinical Requests, Onboarding, and Scheduling:
- Collect and maintain an accurate Clinical Database
- Request clinical placements in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. Utilize multiple clinical request systems to ensure clinical shifts are requested in a timely and organized manner.
- Communicate with nursing education coordinators for various clinical partners to identify additional clinical opportunities.
- Once clinical rotations are approved, create a student schedule assigning students to shifts for the semester. Ensure to check athletics or other common conflicts when scheduling and coordinate with appropriate contacts.
- Coordinate and communicate with students and faculty about site-specific onboarding that needs to be completed prior to the start of the rotation.
- Arrange to collect site-specific ID badges and return at the end of the semester.
- Update the Clinical Site One-Pagers to include accurate information and student schedule. Share with appropriate clinical sites.
- Coordinate with clinical faculty to make sure they have the opportunity for orientation to clinical sites, proper EHR access, SMU scrubs, etc. Serve as the liaison between the clinical site and clinical faculty.
- Facilitate Clinical Orientation at the beginning of each semester for each clinical rotation in collaboration with the clinical faculty and Director of Nursing.
Student Credentialing:
- Oversee the Nursing Department Coordinator for general routine credentialing
- Communicate with the Nursing Department Coordinator for site-specific or student-specific processes and exceptions.
- Oversee student onboarding process for each clinical site.
- Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of credentialing processes and procedures
Administrative Responsibilities
- Clear, ongoing communication with Director of Nursing via written, and verbal methods, including the willingness to communicate in the evening and on weekends when needed,
- Attend nursing department meetings
- Participates in meetings and events as required
Qualifications

- Creativity in identifying resources and solutions for problems
- Flexibility to adapt to the ever changing demands each day brings
- Serves and protects the program by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements
- Self-direction and ability to work with minimal supervision
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; commensurate professional experience may be substituted.
- Experience in office, administrative, or customer service positions preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare related field preferred, but not required.
