Job Summary
The Automation Engineer (Equipment Maintenance) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated equipment used in PCBA SMT production lines and solar inverter assembly machines. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PCBA SMT equipment (e.g., screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI, SPI) and solar inverter assembly machines.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in automation systems.
- Ensure minimal production downtime by responding quickly to equipment failures and implementing effective solutions.
- Maintain and update maintenance records, spare parts inventory, and equipment documentation.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with production and process engineering teams to improve equipment efficiency and yield rates.
- Support automation upgrades, modifications, and integration of new technologies to enhance production capabilities.
- Optimize machine parameters and conduct experiments to improve manufacturing process stability.
Equipment Installation & Calibration
- Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new production equipment.
- Perform regular calibration of SMT and inverter assembly machines to ensure product quality and process consistency.
- Collaborate with suppliers and equipment vendors for technical support and training.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ESD control, etc.).
- Conduct equipment safety inspections and risk assessments to prevent accidents.
- Provide technical training to production operators and junior engineers on proper machine handling and maintenance procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting in a PCBA SMT and/or solar inverter manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of SMT machines (e.g., Yamaha, Panasonic, Fuji, ASM, JUKI) and solar inverter assembly equipment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming, motion control systems, servo drives, and robotic automation is a plus.
- Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
- Good communication skills in English and Mandarin (both written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated optical inspection (AOI), solder paste inspection (SPI), and X-ray inspection equipment.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and smart manufacturing systems.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Industrial Maintenance.
