POSITION SUMMARY:
The Student Support Advisor provides proactive support and guidance to students throughout their education. This role involves prompt, professional and accurate advising on academic and service-related matters in an environment that encourages students’ successful progression to graduation. Student Support Advisors will be assigned a portfolio of students for which they will be expected to engage with on a regular basis developing a relationship with each student to holistically support and advocate for the student’s success in the program. They must work collaboratively with all university departments and outside partners to ensure both students and staff have the knowledge, resources, and support to succeed.
In a rapidly changing environment success in this position will require individual to be agile and an active participant implementing change, cultivate a culture that promotes student engagement and success while ensuring students have the resources to maintain persistence from the start of their program thought to graduation. This role will operate in a dynamic environment where the individual must be able to provide consistent high quality student interactions with a high number of students using multiple modalities such as phone, e-mail, SMS, social media and in-person or virtual interactions while also navigating multiple information systems simultaneously.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing holistic support to students both within and outside assigned portfolio
- Provide support for the new student enrollment process by partnering with Admissions and Financial Aid to answer student queries and comprehensive information on program expectations to ensure students have the resources for success before their first course and successfully persist into their next semester
- Developing relationships with student portfolio to support continuation of long-term academic success to graduation
- Proactively identify and provide support for at-risk students to increase successful student outcomes and persistence
- Work collaboratively participating in regular meetings with instructional faculty, academic support programs, financial aid and admissions to facilitate student success and improved retention
- Employ a high level of discretion and independent judgement to proficiently evaluate intricate academic situations throughout the student life cycle
- Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and the community.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all academic requirements, systems, policies, and procedures in compliance with governmental and University policies.
- Demonstrate professionalism and quality customer service
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Advising and Persistence
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a person of integrity, who has demonstrated an ability to use data to make informed decisions, inspire others to achieve shared-goals, and maintain effective relations with diverse internal and external communities
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 1 year of exceptional customer service or prior advising experience in an education setting
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations
- Customer experience skills focused on student success, collaboration, innovation, and positive contributor to change management
- Strong familiarity with technology, especially Microsoft Office and preferably Anthology suite
