JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, managing sub-ledgers, performing month-end closing functions, and assisting in preparation of financial reports and operating budgets.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Experience: 2 years of experience in a related position preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Initiative and judgment skills. Have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and generate alternative solutions. Have excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The responsibilities of the Accountant may include the following duties:
- Obtains and maintains a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Prepares and records various accounting entries with comprehensive supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, identifying and addressing any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Performs monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, maintenance of fixed asset subledger, including capitalization of assets and tracking of construction in process and depreciation.
- Prepares investment rollforward and records associated journal entries for investment activity.
- Assists in the preparation and monthly monitoring of operating budgets for assigned departments, collaborating with department directors to ensure financial integrity.
- Records revenue for non-patient related areas of the Hospital, as well as offsite locations.
- Prepares audit schedules and assists management during financial audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Assists in conducting ad-hoc analyses and performs other duties as assigned.
PAY RANGE
$28.52 - $42.78
The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay that was available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
