Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter.
- Assess initial and continuing individual student and class needs.
- Determine, cooperatively with the evaluator, appropriate learning objectives for the class, taking into account the District course of study and the assessed needs of the students.
- Plan appropriate learning experiences.
- Provide individual and/or group instruction.
- Monitor students' progress and evaluate students' achievements in relation to the agreed-upon learning objectives.
- Report individual student progress to parents and school personnel through the preparation of reports and/or the holding of conferences.
- Create a functional and attractive learning environment.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in service education and professional growth activities.
- Perform basic attendance accounting and other necessary reporting functions.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials and supplies.
- Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Monitor a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing program.
- Participate in developing curriculum and other programs within the school or at the District level.
- Utilize support services as appropriate.
- Plan and coordinate the work of instructional aides, teacher assistants, and community volunteers as appropriate.
- Share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees.
- Interact professionally with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Teaching Profession.
Qualifications
- Multiple Subject California Teaching Credential with Mandarin Bilingual Authorization
- Fluency in Mandarin and English required (reading, writing, and speaking)
