Saucony Creek Brewing Company in Kutztown, PA is seeking a professional hands-on Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The successful candidate will employ their culinary and managerial skills to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ satisfaction. You will have the freedom to design your own menu with supporting guidance from the owners and General Manager. We use ingredients from local provisioners and local farms, as available and in-season, including produce grown on our owners' farms and in the brewery vegetable garden. This is a one of a kind opportunity for a creative, dynamic head chef.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the menu planning and execution of all meals, following the company’s core values of regional and fresh
- Participate in the actual cooking and preparation of food items as a hands on member and leader of the kitchen team
- Prepare high quality food with eye-catching presentation
- Ensure that the kitchen operates efficiently and meets our quality and cleanliness standards
- Lead by example, fostering a teamwork attitude
- Oversee inventory with appropriate stock levels and proper rotation of perishable food stores
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Professionally resolve any issues that arise with staff or customers
- Manage and train kitchen staff to our standards
- Enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards as established by Pa Dept of Ag and ServSafe
- In conjunction with the General Manager, plan and maintain the brewery vegetable garden with assistance from other staff
Skills
- Documented experience as an Executive Chef/Head Chef or experienced Sous Chef
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Profitable financial management of the kitchen operation, including meal costing and pricing, purchasing, waste control, and staff scheduling
- Excellent record of kitchen and staff management
- Ability to address personnel and staffing issues, including hiring and termination
- Passion for quality, excellence and kitchen cleanliness
- ServSafe Certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50k - $62k per year, negotiable based on proven experience.

- Executive Chef/Head Chef/Sous Chef Experience: 3 years
- Formal Culinary School Training is a plus, but not required
- Final candidates may be required to design and prepare several food items for owner and manager evaluation in our kitchen using only our on-hand ingredients.
