Job Description
As a Generator Technician for Apparatus Repair & Engineering (AR & E) you will be responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures. The Generator Technician is both the technical expert and primary customer support contact to the customer and is therefore, responsible for continually communicating with the customer to provide an exceptional customer experience.
Description of the Broad Function & Scope of Position:
- Know and follow all Company safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and fully participate in company accident prevention and safety improvement activities
- Respond to customer requests
- Travel to designated sites and perform professional quality field service evaluations and repairs consistent with company standards
- Advise the Generator Team of parts needed for necessary repairs
- Schedule multiple generator technicians for various jobs on a daily basis and coordinate locations
- Keep Generator Coordinator continually apprised, and utilize leadership to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary
- Document detailed, complete and legible descriptions of all repair operations performed
- Work with the Generator Team to learn and create new opportunities for the team to branch into (i.e. remote monitoring, solar, etc.)
- Lift up to 40 lbs frequently; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 40 lbs
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required
- 2-year technical training program completion, or completion of a 3 year apprenticeship
- Knowledge of engines, generators and load transfer equipment
- Technical knowledge of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures
Qualifications & Competencies:
Able to perform basic math functions, and able to understand, perform and retain various job- related training, operations, and safety procedures. Have management or coordinator background. Able to work overtime and weekends as needed. A high school diploma or GED is required. Must have a valid driver’s license, DOT physical card or be willing to obtain a DOT physical card. You must own your own basic mechanical tools and have an ability to use a forklift and overhead crane. Must have some knowledge of Generators.
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, physical exam.
Salary Range : 18.00-26.00 per hour
