What You'll Do in This Position

Begin to plan and develop IT solutions to technical task or project objectives. Provide tactical design, engineering, technical specifications, project coordination, and configuration management for complex IT solutions. Assist more senior technical personnel in performing network and telecommunications activities in more complex tasks and begin to provide guidance and technical expertise to junior personnel.

  • Comply with team processes and practices for execution of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain technical expertise in assigned emphasis areas and demonstrate flexibility in multiple disciplines.
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks in a timely and quality fashion.
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate with others across IT to provide support for assigned areas.
  • Incorporate conventional telecommunications / network engineering practices into problem solving and program planning.
  • Define specific problems based on general problem information from management and / or customers. Plan technical effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments and sections to focus areas and solve problems.
  • Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilization and training of personnel operating under one's technical guidance and compliance with approved schedules and staffing estimates.
  • Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product developed and designed to resolve the original problem.
  • Determine schedules and staffing requirements for assigned tasks. Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness.
  • Maintain network security by implementing network access, monitoring, control and evaluation.
  • Maintain documentation and configuration information.
  • Shift schedule is determined by job assignment and may include off hours schedule.
  • Assignment may include 24x7 support as part of an on call rotational assignment.

Other Qualifications

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar.
  • Microsoft Certified : Teams Administrator or similar.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Qualifications We Desire

  • Proficiency in video teleconferencing technologies, such as Cisco TelePresence, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of network protocols and infrastructure, including TCP / IP, UDP, SIP, H.323, and RTP.
  • Experience of audiovisual (AV) equipment, codecs, cameras, microphones, and other hardware used in video conferencing setups.
  • Experience with endpoint configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Experience with integrating VTC systems with other collaboration tools and applications.
  • Strong grasp of cybersecurity principles and best practices related to VTC systems.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting video teleconferencing solutions.
  • Experience with project management, including planning, resource allocation, and coordination.
  • Experience in a senior or lead role within a VTC team is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure, particularly during live events or critical situations.
  • Leadership qualities to mentor junior staff members and provide guidance on VTC projects.
  • Adaptability to keep pace with evolving technologies and industry trends.
  • College degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology. Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering preferred.

    Proven experience in related assignments desirable.

    Knowledge of the academic as well as the practical aspects of Network and Telecommunications Engineering.

    Ongoing technical development in Network and Telecommunications Engineering.

    A broad and detailed technical knowledge base of disciplines standard concepts, principals and techniques. Ability to apply formal training. Awareness of industry standards and emerging directions.

    Security Clearance Information

    SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications.
