LEGAL ASSISTANT
Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to support attorneys in our School Law practice group.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting attorneys in preparing legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs
- E-filing in both State and Federal Court
- Organizing and maintaining case files
- Managing and/or confirming attorneys’ schedules
- Coordinating with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal proceedings
- Preparing correspondence and communicating with clients on behalf of attorneys
- Assisting in preparation for trials, including organizing exhibits and witness lists
- Managing administrative tasks such as billing and record keeping
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
- Answering phones in a pleasant and professional manner and taking messages accurately and relaying messages to appropriate parties in a timely manner
- Transcribing digital dictation
Skills:
- Must possess a positive outlook, professional and friendly disposition
- Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to communicate with attorneys, staff, and clients effectively
- Organized
- Detail Oriented
- Ability to work in a team environment to ensure effective coverage as well as independently
Other Requirements:
- Experience working for Senior-Level Partner/Department Chair preferred
- Knowledge of document management systems such as NetDocuments

INSURANCE DEFENSE LITIGATION PARALEGAL

Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking a paralegal with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to support the insurance defense litigation group in its Paramus, New Jersey office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Drafting initial correspondence to adjusters
• Drafting pleadings
• Drafting discovery demands
• Drafting responses to discovery
• Working with legal assistant to monitor discovery and file necessary motions
• Preparing and serving HIPAA forms and calendaring for follow-up
• Arranging independent medical examinations
• Reviewing, organizing and forwarding medical records for examining physicians
• Maintaining insurance company guidelines in data management systems
• Communicating on behalf of attorneys to obtain information and following-up on assignments
• Maintaining digital filing
Skills:
• Detail oriented and organized
• Excellent writing and proofreading skills
• Ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines

Requirements:
• Paralegal certification or related relevant job experience
