DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and supervise daily operations of one of Crews including the safety, quality, and personnel management aspects.
• Applicant should possess excellent communication, leadership and management skills.
• Must be able to accept out of town work and/or occasional weekend work
• Must be able to walk through construction sites and lift 50 pounds from the ground.
• Support of safety & health programs, including daily tailgate meetings, accident investigations, and development and implementation of corrective action plans.
• Coordinate and / or schedule the activities of construction workers.
• Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures.
• Must know how to work with water, sewer and storm drain.
• Inspect work progress, equipment, or construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met.
• Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment and / or lasers.
• Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities.
• Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs.
• Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs.
• Confer with other contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities.
• Order or requisition materials or supplies.
• Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans.
• Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies.
• Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports.
• Provide assistance to workers engaged in construction or extraction activities, using hand tools or other equipment.
• Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Grading/Paving Foreman position requires the ability to operate the following construction equipment; Skip Loader, Dozer, Water Truck, Skid-steer, Back Hoe, Lasers and GPS systems.

• Ability to grade project big to small and prepare it for paving/ concrete.
• Be able to read and understand plans and specs.
• Be able to quantify rock, spoils, etc..
• Must have supervisory skills handling crews.
• Must maintain high quality workmanship.
• Must be capable and proficient interacting with trucking subcontractors and other miscellaneous subs.
• Ability to travel for work during the week or weekend when needed.
• Able to work weekends when needed.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Foreman.
• Ability to pass drug test and physical.
• Clean driving record/valid drivers’ license (Class A license a plus).
