Position Overview
The Director of Strategic Sourcing is a leadership role focused on negotiating and managing contracts within a large procurement organization, specifically for Food and Nutrition products and services. This role involves developing strategies to achieve optimal pricing, mitigate risks, and create value for clients, including healthcare organizations and suppliers. The Director will oversee the entire sourcing process, engage with senior executives, and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in Food and Nutrition sourcing, including experience with master food distribution suppliers, pricing structures, and distribution processes. The Director will manage total cost of ownership for contracts, resolve supplier and customer issues, and deliver dynamic presentations to advisory boards and senior leadership.
Location and Travel Requirements
- Onsite Requirement: This position is fully onsite.
- Travel: Up to 25% travel for client, supplier, and customer engagements.
Compensation
- Base Salary: $160,000, with bonus potential up to 20% based on performance.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in negotiation and contract management.
- Expertise in Food and Nutrition: In-depth knowledge of sourcing Food and Nutrition products, including master food distribution suppliers, supplier contracts, pricing structures, and distribution processes.
- Additional Industry Experience: Experience with other commercial categories outside of Food and Nutrition is a plus.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing or Procurement Processes: Strong understanding of distribution processes, prime and regional programs, and direct manufacturer contracting.
Key Skills
- Spend Management: Experience in managing annual spend across Food and Nutrition categories. Candidates should be able to provide specific details on spend breakdowns by category, identifying major vendors used in food distribution, and explaining sourcing decisions.
- Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation: Ability to establish sourcing strategies specific to Food and Nutrition, including conducting RFP analysis, evaluating supplier proposals, and making decisions on supplier onboarding. The candidate should be able to optimize costs through contract negotiations while ensuring food quality, availability, and delivery timelines.
- Project Management: Successful management of projects related to Food and Nutrition sourcing such as vendor rationalization, RFQs, and contract renegotiations, including budgeting and stakeholder management.
- Market Analysis: Skilled in gathering market intelligence on food suppliers, assessing risks specific to the food distribution sector, and generating reports to drive improvements in food procurement categories.
