Seafloor Systems is seeking a Service Technician to join the customer support team. This individual will develop fundamental technical skills to contribute to Seafloor’s customer support program. They will learn how to operate, maintain, and repair Seafloor’s uncrewed vehicle fleet. They will learn how to operate and maintain the hydrographic equipment that Seafloor sells and rents. Seafloor Systems routinely works with marine surveying sensors that include multibeam sonars, single beam sonars, sidescan sonars, sub-bottom profilers, and GPS systems. They will respond to customer service inquiries and answer support emails and phone calls with professional demeanor, under the supervision of more experienced technicians. They will assist with customer trainings as they grow their skillset in marine autonomy and hydrographic operations.
Service Technicians should feel confident handling basic tools to perform repairs. They will assist in managing Seafloor’s rental inventory and provide diagnostic support to Seafloor’s RMA program. Service Technicians assist in equipment installations, calibration, and testing. We are seeking technicians that have hands on experience working in similar disciplines to the following: autonomous vehicles, hydrographic surveying, mechatronics, robotics, electronics, IT networking, ocean science, engineering, and computer science.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
1) Perform repairs and replace components on uncrewed vehicle systems, while following established safety procedures.
2) With assistance from experienced technicians, they will troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or operational issues and identify potential causes while proposing solutions.
3) Assist in managing Seafloor’s rental program. Perform quality control tests on rental gear to ensure that rental gear is operationally sound for customers. Evaluate and diagnose returned gear. Assist in rental inventories. Provide feedback to management on program procedures.
4) Assist with Seafloor’s RMA program. Customers may send in equipment for evaluation; the technician will test equipment, diagnose potential issues, and perform repairs as needed.
5) Interact with Sales, Engineering, and Production departments in a courteous manner. Cross collaboration is essential to ensuring that Seafloor’s product support maintains a high bar.
6) Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Provide technical support by answering questions via phone and email. Adress customer concerns related to equipment operation or maintenance to technician’s fullest technical capacity.
7) Actively participate in training programs, workshops, and on-the-job learning opportunities to develop technical skills and competency.
8) Collaborate with other technicians, supervisors, and team members to coordinate service activities.
9) Adaptability is essential in this role, as the dynamic nature of our business may require flexibility in day-to-day job assignments and responsibilities.
Work Environment:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Typical work requires being on bodies of water, both large and small vessels. May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special projects.
Education: College Degree preferred, high school diploma with work experience may be substituted.
Experience: 2 years in robotics, hydrography, surveying, engineering, mechatronics, autonomous vehicles, IT networking, etc., preferred
Physical Demands: Heavy Lifting, Physically Active for Long Periods, ability to work in dynamic aquatic environments
Other Requirements: Available for frequent, long period travel
