What we're looking for:
The Application Development Engineer will be focusing on supporting new prospects and current customer base by fully understanding the application and the needs throughout the entire product development lifecycle process. This position will entail fully understanding the technical capabilities of Secant and working closely with the Business Development team, customers, and Product Development Engineers acting as a bridge between the internal teams and customers.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for gathering technical inputs from inbound and outbound client project inquiries, qualifying potential sales leads, determining the project scope and estimated project costs, and support in the overall quotation and sales process.
- Partner with business development team and product development team to plan, prepare and execute projects and quotes.
- Facilitate virtual and in person meetings to understand customer’s product, gather product and project requirements, and determine whether Secant can support the project based on the Secant capabilities.
- Define the scope of work, technical inputs of client needs, and determine the project cost estimated, including engineering time, tooling/equipment costs, raw material costs, and any other project needs to successfully execute the scope of work.
- Coordinate internal/external kick-off meetings with product development engineer and provide updates to the clients as needed.
- Partner with Business Development team to provide capabilities presentation, support customer visits and represent technical capabilities at the trade shows.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience managing a technical project.
- Ability to understand the client’s needs, how the needs relate to the scope of the project and how changes will affect other systems.
- Ability to translate client inputs into engineering requirements based on technical skill set.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to internal and external project stakeholders, including process capabilities, limitations, and areas for improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to get along well with others and work in a team environment.
- Leadership experience.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization and decision-making skills.
- Experience in technical writing and use of statistical tools, including MiniTab.
- Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project and MS PowerPoint.
