What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water resource Technician position at Seminole Tribe of Florida?
The incumbent for this position is responsible for performing a wide range of apprentice-level, technical job duties in direct support of the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s surface water and stormwater conveyance system operations and maintenance. The individual performs duties that can broadly include operating various machinery and equipment, applying herbicides to control aquatic vegetation, operating water control structures, and conducting canal water level conditions assessments and reports, all in support of the general Environmental Resources Management Department (ERMD) water resource protection and enhancement objectives, implemented on all Reservations and Tribal Lands. The incumbent provides emergency response support to all Reservations, as assigned. The individual is required to perform these duties in strict accordance with all established standard operating procedures and safety protocols. High School Diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year of documented, pertinent technical experience in water resources management, with a documented safety record, is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must possess of have the ability to obtain Commercial Driver’s License within one year of duties assignment. Must possess of have the ability to obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER certification within one year of duties assignment, and must maintain annual HAZWOPER refresher credential. Must possess of have the ability to a Florida State Pesticide Applicator’s License within one year of duties assignment, and must maintain annual refresher credential. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance. Must have the ability to swim and provide support in emergency response situations. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and administrative skills. Must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills utilizing Microsoft software. Must have the ability to travel across all reservations ant to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
