JOB SUMMARY:

Assist in the collection of delinquent loans and negative accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Staff support for collection issues.
• Contacts delinquent members by phone and mail. Advises and counsels members of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment. Takes appropriate action to bring account to a current status. As necessary, helps members create custom payment plans to repay the Credit Union.
• Extension Check-backs.
• Maintain Collections Database.
• Makes recommendations to repossess or foreclose collateral when arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
• Provide information to attorney for foreclosures/bankruptcy/collections.
• Ensure all collection activity is legal and follows established policies.
• Initiate Small Claims proceedings and appear in court on behalf of ServU.
• Assist with reports for Management
• Assist in other job duties as assigned by management.
• Complies with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Performs related responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

• Two years of related experience
• Proficient in XP
• Computer knowledge (Excel, Word)
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Knowledge of collection policies
• Knowledge of lending products and policies
• Organization and attention to detail
• Provide a positive professional image as a representative of the credit union
• Valid driver license as travel to court or other branches is required
• High level of confidentiality
• Ability to work evenings
• Timeliness and regularity of attendance are essential to the job
