Machine Operator (Schedule: 3:30 pm - 12:00 am)

Summary of Functions:

A Level 1 production machine operator pertains to all Operator Level 1’s, such as; Machine Operator Level 1, Roaster Operator Level 1 and a Forklift driver who operates machinery at a Level 1. Operators perform tasks as needed in all areas of production while maintaining and tending to various types of machinery but not limited to (i.e. evolution’s, x-ray machine(s), multi scan(s), bliss machine(s), pattyn, concetti, okura, pasteurizer(s), preheater(s), etc.) and other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Keep work areas clean and well organized.
• Report to work areas on time at the beginning of the shift and/or after each rest period.
• Observe safety practices and comply with company policies and procedures.
• When a problem interferes with the machinery, inform the lead and/or supervisor immediately.
• Inform the Lead or Supervisor of any discrepancies regarding any issues (i.e. Production, Safety Hazards/Issues, Lock Out Tag Out, Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures).
• Immediately inform lead and/ or Supervisor when finished product does not meet the required specifications.
• Suggest changes as needed to improve working condition for employees and/or use of equipment to increase efficiency in the processing rooms.
• Responsible for operating the machine’s in a safe manner according to safety guidelines including lockout/tag-out procedures and daily inspections of equipment. (i.e. evolution’s, x-ray machine(s), multi scan(s), bliss machine(s), pattyn, concetti, okura, pasteurizer(s), preheater(s), etc.)
• Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment start up and operation on various pieces of equipment.

· Set up machinery to start a production cycle for operation.

· Monitor machinery, product flow, etc. and general packaging of product.

· Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used to each customer specifications.

· Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions/specifications.

· Ensure all paperwork is filled out and legible in an accurate format.

· Work in various assigned areas depending on staffing and production needs.

· Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees.

· Must communicate any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.

• Log container/material information using scanning devices and manufacturing execution system (MES) software.
• Fill out daily inspection log per shift and/or vehicle.
• Report any damages, incidents and material shortages to lead and/or supervisor.
• Before filling bins assure bins are free of contaminants such as trash, mold, dust, flavoring, etc.

Organization Relationships:

• Work with Production Department Supervisor/Manager and Maintenance Management System to ensure food safety of Setton Pistachio’s Food Safety/Safety Management System.
• Report directly to Production Area Lead and/or Supervisor.
• Must have the ability to work together as a team to produce the highest quality products in the most efficient manner.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
• Setton Pistachio is willing to provide adequate training to prospective and able candidate.
• Strong ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, company policy, handbook and all instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Bilingual preferred but not required.
• Basic computer skills.
• Forklift experience preferred but not required.

Physical Demands:

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and sit or be in other physically demanding positions for long periods of time.

Work Environment:

• The employee may be exposed to but not limited to (i.e. loud noises, salts, ingredient odors, etc.) while performing work duties.
• The employee must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices while performing their assigned duties.
• The company will provide safety equipment as needed for job functions.

May require flexibility in shifts, hours and days of the workweek. Some overtime may be required during high sales volumes.
