The Director of Human Resources is a pivotal leadership role aimed at shaping the HR function within our organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will collaborate closely with the executive team to craft and implement effective HR strategies. Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the HR team and oversee the HR Administrator / Coordinator, with the potential to further expand the team.
- Work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure full payroll compliance with all relevant regulations.
Compliance :
Manage compliance filings, including EEO, Unemployment, Wage & Hour, Worker's Compensation, OSHA, ADA, and more to ensure organizational adherence to laws.Ensure accurate employee classifications in our HRIS system.Administer the ACA portal and maintain compliance with ACA regulations.Stay updated on HR best practices and legal changes to continually improve our policies.Employee Relations :
Oversee the employee relations process from intake to resolution.Foster a positive workplace culture and ensure legal compliance.Develop and disseminate HR policies that comply with California laws, coaching managers on implementation.Performance Management :
Create performance management processes that support the company’s strategic objectives.Advise managers on best practices for managing performance-related issues legally and effectively.Training and Development :
Identify training solutions that suit a growing workforce, ensuring compliance with California standards.Partner with department heads to offer professional development aligned with industry trends.Benefits Administration :
Manage employee benefits programs ensuring compliance with ACA and California regulations.Conduct audits on benefit plans for scalability and compliance.Administer leave of absences following state and federal guidelines.Oversee workers' compensation claims to ensure timely handling and support for managers.Policy Development and Compliance :
Develop and regularly update HR policies to adhere to employment laws and best practices.Conduct periodic reviews of policies to maintain effectiveness and compliance.Ensure employee handbooks are current and distributed timely.HR Metrics and Reporting :
Establish and monitor key HR metrics focusing on compliance and effectiveness.Prepare regular reports for senior management highlighting HR activities and trends.Maintain accurate employee information in our HRIS, Paycom.Scalability Planning :
Partner with executives to develop HR strategies that enable company growth.Adapt HR processes to meet the evolving needs of the organization while ensuring compliance.Qualifications :
8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with expertise in managing non-exempt and seasonal workforces.Strong business acumen with strategic thinking skills to align HR with company goals.Experience in developing HR programs in dynamic environments.Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate teams.Knowledge of California employment laws is crucial.Excellent listening and problem-solving abilities.Demonstrated success in scaling HR functions in fast-paced organizations.Exceptional interpersonal skills for building partnerships at all company levels.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Organized with a strong attention to detail.Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly preferred.Experience working with unions is advantageous.Inclusivity Statement : We are dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
