What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Installer position at Sheppard's Business Interiors?
SUMMARY:
Provides work direction to both SBI Installers and sub-contractors in all phases of product installation when assigned small scale projects. Otherwise, installs systems and office furniture at customer and other site locations according to manufacturer’s recommended procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads and assist installation projects, including work direction to Installer and sub-contractors for small delivery and installation projects.
- Ensure quality work, effective & efficient execution of the installation process with safety as a priority.
- Practice, encourage, & enforce the use of appropriate safety equipment.
- Controls project costs and recovery of expenses through execution of punchlist and change order procedures.
- Survey job site for existing facility damage, obstacles, etc., and communicate to Project Manager.
- Identifies and communicates project damages, omissions and customer concerns to Project Manager.
- Utilize appropriate procedure for checkout and use of all tools and equipment.
- Timely, legible, and accurate completion and submission of all daily documentation.
- Ensure and practice appropriate cleanliness and safe operation of all company vehicles, power tools, and moving equipment.
- Provide daily project updates and appropriate documentation to the customer, Project Manager or Installation Manager.
- Provide daily feedback regarding staff performance.
- Reliable and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Desire and ability to lead staff, problems solve, and be an advocate for continuous improvement.
- 2-3 years of industry experience preferred and a minimum of 6-months as an Installer preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and understand manufacturers’ assembly directions applicable to the product being installed.
- Working knowledge of Steelcase products and some major competitor’s products preferred
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and good organization/prioritization skills.
- Proven safety practices, technical knowledge, and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to meet insurance requirements and the ability to operate SBI fleet vehicles.
- Ability to meet the background requirements necessary to access restricted customer sites.
- Ability and knowledge to install wall track and other wall mounted furniture components.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
