Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual in Bedding to oversee and manage all production processes at our assigned manufacturing location. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our approved products are manufactured on schedule, meet stringent quality standards, and align with established cost objectives. This leadership position requires fostering collaboration within the plant organization to enhance overall production efficiency, improve product quality, optimize cost management, and cultivate a positive and productive workplace culture.
Specific Responsibilities
- Capacity and Infrastructure Planning: Continuously evaluate and analyze capacity forecasts to make informed decisions regarding infrastructure needs and enhancements, ensuring we are poised to meet current and future demands.
- Planning and Coordination: Collaborate closely with departmental managers to plan and coordinate plant activities. This involves setting clear objectives and deadlines to ensure that manufacturing goals are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Financial Oversight: Develop, implement, and control comprehensive profit plans and budgets. Spearhead initiatives aimed at process improvements that will enhance efficiency and reduce costs across the plant.
- Cost Control Systems: Establish and maintain cost-effective control systems over capital expenditures, operating expenses, staffing, inventory management, and employee wages and salaries to ensure overall financial health and sustainability.
- Staff Development and Compliance: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate staff members, focusing on performance management and professional development. Address any conflicts and disciplinary matters effectively while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Work closely with the Human Resources Department to align staffing strategies and promote a healthy workplace atmosphere.
- Product Introduction Management: Oversee the effective introduction of new products and formulations developed by our Research & Development team, ensuring a smooth transition from development to production.
- Capital Asset Maintenance: Manage the maintenance of capital assets, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in optimal working condition, with timely adjustments or replacements as needed.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish clear metrics and benchmarks to monitor overall plant performance against production and quality standards. Implement strategies to control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight costs, and repair expenses.
- Facility Management Regularly assess and maintain existing plant facilities and equipment, making necessary upgrades or modifications to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
- Leadership and Training: Provide strong leadership and training to all levels of staff to ensure alignment with the company’s goals and objectives. Encourage personal and professional growth, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading a vertically integrated, matrixed manufacturing facility, preferably within the consumer products sector.
- Management Skills: Proven expertise in managing production operations, materials and logistics, shipping and receiving, safety protocols, engineering processes, and quality assurance.
