Project Engineer 1 (PE1) at Shiel Sexton

The Project Engineer 1 (PE1) is essential in helping the Project Team expedite the administrative, safety, and operational processes required to deliver a finished product to the client on time and within budget; The PE1 plays a key supporting role in moving the project toward completion in an accurate time frame and cost range. PE1 will be the main point of contact for Product Tracking, Document Control: RFI’s, Submittals, Transmittals, Punch-lists, Drawings, and related Logs.

As a PE1, you will work within the operations division of Shiel Sexton as an additional aid on the Project Team. At the direction of the team lead, carries out communication between Subcontractors, Foreman, Architect, Clientele, and related personnel. This position requires the ability to file, track, and control administrative processes in an extremely organized manner. Applicants are expected to be dependable in a manner that highlights their ability to complete and follow-up on tasks in a regular day frame.

Role Expectations and Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication with a high standard of customer focus.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented focus for managing multiple project tracking and maintaining accurate file structure related to administrative tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of broad construction theories including but not limited to: take-off, scheduling, pre-construction, personnel management, progression of a construction project, data-gathering, reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings
  • Demonstrates accountability and teamwork through following instructions, policies, and procedures. Meets all standards, deadlines, and work schedules through being reliable on the jobsite.
  • Basic understanding of job site ethics and safety and adheres to a set of core values that are represented in actions
  • Responds positively to change, embracing and using new practices or values and solve problems
  • Proven self-drive for results by asking for and using feedback to improve performance. Seeks and acquires new competencies, work methods, ideas, and information that will improve own efficiency and effectiveness on the job

Qualifications

  • This is a position for recent graduates of 4-year college program and/or new hires with little to no previous experience in Construction Management;
  • One to three (3) years of experience in commercial construction or qualified internship experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with awareness of various construction management applications such as Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Willingness to learn and assume responsibilities relative to construction operations and management.
  • Open to periodic travel
