Summary/Objective: The warehouse receiving associate position is responsible for a variety of receiving and warehousing activities. This role includes, but is not limited to, packing and unpacking goods from shipping containers, printing and applying product labels and shipping labels, handling and cutting to length various copper wire and hose products. This role needs a lot of attention to detail and inventory knowledge.
Essential Functions
- Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Operates powered lift trucks, hand trucks or carts to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas
- Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of shipping or receiving experience
Work Environment
This is a hands-on role that operates mainly in a warehouse environment. This role will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
