Overview
Cashier/Floor are responsible for taking guests through each step of the ordering process at the counter. They graciously and knowledgeably guide the guest through our menu and the products in our display cases, highlighting the offerings unique to Sightglass.
Cashier/Floor staff will maintain a composed and flexible mind-set, keeping an awareness of bar and kitchen flow, adjusting and supporting other stations as needed. Cashier/Floor Staff runs food and drinks, maintains the dining room by clearing and bussing vacated tables, and attends to guests seated in the dining room. Cashier/Floor Staff is responsible for updating the seating chart as guests choose a table, and ensuring guests have everything they need to enjoy their meal. Cashier/Floor staff will also take any additional orders from guests seated in the dining room using a handheld POS system. As the primary presence on the floor, Floor Staff will assist guests in each phase of the dining experience, quickly communicating and resolving any issues that may arise. Cahier/Floor Staff are responsible for clearing and cleaning vacated tables promptly and properly. This position requires a strong ability to multitask, commitment to service and hospitality, along with a keen eye for details.

- Warmly and efficiently guide guests through the ordering process, pulling all applicable selections from the case for plating/packaging.
- Accurately ringing up guest orders on our POS system.
- Maintain full menu knowledge to be able to answer all guest questions and confidently suggest pairings/add-ons to their order.
- Able to memorize ingredient lists to better help customers with dietary restrictions/allergies.
- Employ sales techniques and proper descriptions for menu items to maximize ticket value.
- Quickly and efficiently box/plate items, taking into account how the items will travel and which box/package guarantees they arrive at their destination in perfect condition.
- Attends to the workspace and guarantee compliance to cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Visually ensure any product handed to guests meets quality and food safety standards.
- Successfully work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, supporting all areas of the restaurant.
- Deliver outstanding service and hospitality to guests.
- Run food and drinks from the expo station to the proper table.
- Quick and effective clearing and resetting of tables.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Genuine passion for customer service and demonstrated ability to maintain service standards in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong multi-tasker while attending to details.
- Ability to build and foster genuine relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Flexible mindset, able to take direction and change course as flow of service dictates.
- Cash handling and POS knowledge/experience.
- Outstanding people and communication skills.

- Solutions oriented, ability and desire to solve problems, involving management as needed.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- High school diploma: Food Handlers certificate required within 30 days of hire.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for 4 hours.
- Ability to maneuver effectively around the café and office.
