Reports to : Facilities and Custodian Supervisor
Classification : Part-Time, non-exempt
Payscale: Starts at $14.50 an hour with a $1/hr increase at successful completion of 90 day probationary period.
Schedule: 30 hours a week, Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun 8:00 am to 3:30 pm
Job Summary:
The role involves ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests by adhering to facility policies and maintaining cleanliness standards. Duties include sweeping, mopping, polishing floors, cleaning restrooms, and monitoring laundry areas. The position also requires reporting equipment malfunctions, handling furniture movement, and maintaining COVID safety protocols. Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a sometimes-stressful environment are essential skills for success in this role.
Sister José Women’s Center provides for the daily survival needs of unhoused women and supports their efforts to move forward in their lives through services, compassionate support, and respect for the dignity of each individual. Essential Functions:
May include but are not limited to the following:
· Communicates with Guests in a positive, caring, and professional manner
· Maintains the safety of Guests by enforcing Center policies
· Sweeps, mops, and polishes floors in the kitchen, rooms, and halls.
· Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds, and equipment.
· Cleans restrooms and fills dispensers.
· Reports malfunctions of equipment, bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, etc. to Supervisor.
· Completes laundry when needed
· Cleans and monitors showers and laundry area during the day program
· Moves furniture, equipment, or fixtures as required.
· Sweeps outside areas around buildings and on the patios.
· Assures all safety precautions are followed in the workplace.
· Communicates effectively in a professional manner and is a team player.
· Cleans and puts away dishes, cups, and utensils
· Empties trash containers and replaces liners.
· Cleans up spills and messes.
· Prepares the sleeping area for guests.
· Assists with the sorting of donated items when requested.
· Maintains COVID safety protocols.
· Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:
· Demonstrate Sister José Women's Center’s values at all times.

· Ability to convey a positive and professional image to employees, volunteers, and donors
· Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all individuals.
· Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
· Cleared illicit/illegal drug test results
· Must have some prior custodial experience
· Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
· Must have high school diploma or equivalent
· Must be able to obtain Sexual Abuse Prevention Certifications, provided by Sister José Women’s Center
· Must be able to obtain First Aid Certification (CPR), provided by Sister José Women’s Center
· Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and climb on ladders; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight 20 or more pounds on a frequent basis
