Key Responsibilities:
- Welding Operations: Perform MiG and TiG welding operations to join metal components, tubes, and assemblies according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Material Preparation: Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, degreasing, and removing contaminants to ensure proper fusion and quality of weld joints.
- Welding Techniques: Select appropriate welding techniques, parameters, and equipment settings based on material type, thickness, and welding requirements.
- Quality Control: Inspect welded joints and assemblies for defects, discontinuities, and dimensional accuracy. Perform visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and quality checks to ensure weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- Welding Processes: Follow established welding procedures and techniques for MiG and TiG welding operations. Monitor welding processes, adjust settings, and troubleshoot equipment issues to maintain optimal performance and quality.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of welding equipment and tools to ensure proper functionality and performance. Identify and report equipment malfunctions or deficiencies for repair or replacement.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including welding logs, inspection reports, and quality documentation. Complete required documentation and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to coordinate welding activities, resolve technical issues, and support production goals. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and provide feedback on welding process improvements and best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost reduction in welding operations. Implement best practices, tooling improvements, and automation solutions to enhance productivity and quality.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and dimensions.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in welding is required.
- 3 years of experience in MiG and TiG welding, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS, ASME) preferred.
- Proficiency in MiG and TiG welding techniques, equipment, and processes.
- Strong knowledge of welding principles, metallurgy, and material properties.
- Experience with welding various metals and alloys, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precision welding operations.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
