Student Tutor - Writing Center SVHS

Please note this position is for currently enrolled students and is located at Smithson Valley High School.

Job Description

The campus Writing Center is a space for collaborative work between student tutors and writers. Writing Center Student Tutors will help writers with the writing process, from brainstorming to final edits.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with student writers to assist them with ideas, organization, and editing.
2. Support student writers by reading and offering feedback on assignments and other writing pieces.
3. Attend a tutor training before or after school.
4. Become familiar with the mission and purpose of the Writing Center.
5. Keep scheduled tutoring commitments.
6. Communicate with the campus Writing Center Facilitator regarding Writing Center concerns.

Requirements

1. English teacher recommendation (please include an English teacher in the reference section)
2. Score of at least a 6 on the written composition and 85% on Reporting Categories 5 and 6 (Revising and Editing) on the English I/II EOC, or equivalent.
