ROLE  

It is the primary responsibility of the Director of Housekeeping to manage the operations for Housekeeping and Common Areas departments by ensuring positive and safe working environment while ensuring employees receive the appropriate training, guidance and leadership in order to effectively complete their work and deliver excellent owner & guest experiences. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  

  •  Supervise Housekeeping and Common Areas employees to ensure they adhere to and enforce company and Housekeeping policies.
  • Lead Housekeeping Managers to assure proper staffing and scheduling for employees.
  • Manage assigned operational functions consistent with marketing strategies to promote long term profitability. 
  • Manage the delivery and measurement of the owner/guest service consistent with the Company’s core service standards and brand attributes.
  • Provide input in to the research, development, evaluation and implementation of new products, service, technology and processes to ensure property’s competitive position and in anticipation of changing customer needs within the dynamic hospitality and timeshare market.
  • Manage Human Resources responsibilities including creating a work environment which promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction; quality hiring, training and succession planning processes; compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Control expenses through careful analysis to ensure Housekeeping and Common Areas departments remain in line with their respective budget requirements. 
  • Promote positive inter-departmental relationships
  • Must have working knowledge of MSDS, OSHA, HazCom and all applicable safety laws.
  • Ensure that monthly safety meetings are conducted.
  • Ensure adequate inventory is maintained and controlled at all times.
  • Ensure that operating costs are within budgetary guidelines.
  • Conduct coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action.
  • Create and maintain proper scheduling of employees.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Recruit, interview, hire and monitor training of new employees.
  • Appropriately document accidents and incidents.
  • Conduct quality inspections of all common areas and guest units on a continuous basis.
  • Ensure the housekeeping staff maintains Interval International cleanliness and housekeeping scores at or above five-star minimums.
  • Generate invoices for out-sourced housekeeping projects.
  • Establish positive working relationships with the resort’s vendors.
  • Process all invoices generated for and by the department in a timely manner for payment.
  • Perform all other job requests as assigned by management.



Requirements

  

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Minimum of five to ten years experience in housekeeping and three to five years in a hospitality management position.
  • Effective oral and written English communication skills.
  • Some Spanish Language proficiency helpful.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have professional appearance
