What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plating/Wastewater Supervisor position at Somic America?
Support production as required and provide support to other departments and programs such as 5S, Safety, and the Kaizen Shop by performing the following duties. Satisfy SA’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference SA Quality Manual and Quality Policy). Performs assigned role in the Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with W010902.
Safety
- Visually audit individual work cells for safety concerns daily and address any irregularities.
- Quickly respond to any reported accidents by investigating and reporting to the HR department.
- Teach the proper methods for recognizing and reporting safety concerns.
- Address any operator burden issues by working with the Engineering and Kaizen departments.
- During an emergency evacuation lead the roll call and ensure safety of all the employees.
Quality
- Visually inspect a small sampling of each process in area of responsibility.
- Confirm gauging and documentation is being done by the company standards.
- Help lead OSI projects by using solid root cause problem solving methods.
- Notify Quality of any suspect material and help lead suspect part containment.
- Provide feedback to the team leader and management group of the outcome of non-conforming material.
Productivity
- Confirm that the team leaders are auditing standardized work daily.
- Work hand in hand with the engineering department to improve on standardized work methods. Maintain and follow pull system methods of scheduling the production lines using customer daily demand.
- Escalate downtime issues to the maintenance and engineering department to minimize the downtime.
- Work with Production Planners to develop recovery plans to correct behind conditions as they happen.
- Analyze production output on the shift report and communication boards.
- Give instant feedback on ahead or behind conditions.
Communication
- Monitor production boards and discuss with the team leader.
- Coach, mentor and counsel team leaders and team members weekly and/or monthly about team performance through face to face meetings.
- Discuss preventative maintenance needs and machine availability with maintenance. Evaluate shift reports and pull together performance, downtime and performance charts. Notify the management staff of all change point management subjects.
Kaizen/Continuous Improvement
- Recognize and act to eliminate Muda. Encourage problem solving methods and promote and implement Kaizen ideas.
- Develop job rotation and cross training plans. Follow the methods of PLAN-DO-CHECK-ACT
