Non-Destructive Examination Level II
Pay for Non-Destructive Examination Technician Level II:
Hourly Range: $30.00 - $35.00 an hour.
Position Summary for Non-Destructive Examination Technician Level II:
Sonic Systems International is looking for a NDE Level II to perform inspections for Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) Level II (UT-IIL) for straight beam
A level II (UT-IIL) should be able to perform calibrations for straight beam and documenting / recording findings as directed per procedures. Competently identify and locate components within the plant using ISO drawings, pipe runs and component tags.
Required education and experience for Non-Destructive Examination Technician Level II:
FAC Level II (UT IIL) Must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 40 hours of UT discipline in Classroom & Lab Training
- Minimum 200 hours of OJT experience in UT discipline.
- Minimum 500 hours in any NDE discipline.
- Must be able to provide documentation of classroom/lab training as well as all OJT/Experience hours for each method (equal to or more than minimum number of hours to qualify as a level II inspector, as required for each assignment)
- Clean background with no outstanding/pending legal charges
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test at time of hire and random
- Valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Non-US Citizen must hold current work visa or green card
Location and Timeframe for Non-Destructive Examination Level II:
- Various Locations from 02/1/2025 to 05/1/2025
Essential functions/competencies for Non-Destructive Examination Technician Level II:
Work will occur in a nuclear power plant, which is a radioactively controlled environment, primarily in the US, with some customers requiring international travel.

- Perform all the duties pertaining to FAC (Flow Accelerated Corrosion) Level II (UT-IIL) for straight beam
- When required, act as a point of contact with the customer (GE/Westinghouse/Etc.) in respect to performing the necessary duties.
- Ability to read drawings, identify components by configuration (pipe runs) and identifying tags.
- Must be willing to travel (4-6 months of the year) as well as travel to Houston or Wilmington for training, and or testing.
- Dependability and ability to report to work on time while working 10-12 hours 6-7 days a week
- Maintain a questioning attitude and willingness to both listen when given verbal directions/instructions
- Mentor/instruct UT Level I trainee in all aspects of performing exams, following procedures, and teaching proper method for reading drawings and identifying correct components
- Willingness to learn and take the initiative in new situations and environments
- Highly motivated to be successful and help the entire team be successful
Physical demands for Non-Destructive Examination Technician Level II:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in heightened environments
- Must be able to carry 20lbs.
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, climb, and extend as required for the job
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to work in high heat environments
Preferred education and experience for Non-Destructive Examination Technician Level II:
- Previous Unescorted Access at a Nuclear Power Plant
- MT/PT Level I/II Classroom/Lab Training (40 hours)
- VT123 Level II Classroom/Lab Training (40 hours)
- Must be able to provide documentation of classroom/lab training as well as all OJT/Experience hours for each method (equal to or more than minimum number of hours to qualify as a level II inspector, as required for each assignment)
