Overview
The Emergency Room (ER) Technician is part of the Emergency care team in which high customer service is paramount. Direct contact with patients, families, physicians and staff require a consistent approach to service excellence. This position is a front line member of the nursing team and coordinates all clerical aspects of patient processing. They collaborate with the nurses to ensure safe bed assignment, simple wound care, suture removal and other duties to support efficient, effective and timely patient care.
Responsibilities
Performs basic clinical procedures, such as log entry, EKG and rhythm interpretation, splint application, suture removal, and dressing changes. Coordinates all clerical aspects and processing of the patient medical record, demonstrating high standards of quality and efficiency in multi-tasking.
Promotes high standards of service excellence through positive and professional behaviors by consistent use of AIDET, hourly rounding, updating white boards and follow-up phone calls . Communicates with patients, staff and the general public in a positive manner.
Assists the RN in patient care as directed: vital sign collections, telemetry reports, alarm review, stroke worksheet and documents within scope of practice for the EMR. Review of Emergency culture results and assist with antibiotic changes and contacting patients to notify.
Assists departmental and organization goals by collection of data to support Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ), California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and other regulatory agencies. Input of transfer data into Midas
Prepares patient rooms for arrival to include stocking of supplies, proper disinfection of mattress and other surfaces. Discharges patients from EMR as indicated.
Contact for Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue Authority (SVFRA) r/t transfer documentation assistance, Contact for patient accounting r/t missing documentation for coding. Contact for Quality department and Medical Records as needed.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.Experience: One (1) yr experience in hospital setting/cardiac telemetry Licenses & Certifications: BLS, Basic arrhythmia certification; C N A certification recommended. Required Skills & Knowledge: Able to assess, plan, implement and act independently in the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department. Strong customer service skills. High standards of quality and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high stress environment. Ability to function with Microsoft Office product line and Midas

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to level of experience, education, special skills and/or certifications.Minimum:
