Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometry Technician to join our team. Duties
- Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing the examination room and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use.
- Perform preliminary tests such as measuring visual acuity, taking vital signs, and conducting ocular health screenings.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Educate patients on contact lens care, eyewear options, and post-examination instructions.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, processing insurance claims, and managing patient inquiries.
- Support retail sales by providing recommendations on eyewear products based on patients' needs.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for documentation and patient management.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of physiology related to eye care is preferred.
- Previous experience in a medical office or retail sales environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is an advantage.
- Ability to perform vital sign assessments and understand their implications for eye health.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- A commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to optometry practices and technologies.
