Senior Property Adjuster (Hybrid)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Property Adjuster to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims. In this role, you will analyze coverage, assess liability exposure, and negotiate fair settlements while ensuring compliance with state regulations. This position requires strong virtual estimating skills for moderate to large losses and a high level of customer service in a call center environment.
This hybrid role requires working in the office three days per week. Locations available include San Antonio, TX, Colorado Springs, CO, and Phoenix, AZ. Work schedules are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (local time), with some weekend availability. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with paid overtime available.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of moderately complex property claims, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to facilitate claim settlements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough claim investigations using various resources, including policyholders, third parties, and external reports.
- Assess coverage concerns, review prior loss history, and determine Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals as needed.
- Negotiate fair settlements and collaborate with management when amounts exceed authority limits.
- Maintain detailed claim file documentation throughout the process.
- Utilize estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools to assess damages and prepare claim estimates.
- Apply knowledge of industry standards, damage mitigation, and restoration techniques.
- Provide guidance and support to team members as an informal resource.
- Handle workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations, including mandatory on-call availability.
- May require up to 50% travel for CAT deployments with minimal notice.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in property claims adjusting or a related field (construction, insurance, etc.).
- Knowledge of residential construction and claims estimation using Xactimate or similar tools.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of property claims contracts and relevant state regulations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and navigate multiple business applications.
- Ability to obtain an insurance adjuster license within 90 days (up to 3 attempts allowed).
- Willingness to travel up to 50% and work catastrophe duty as needed.
Preferred:
- Active Adjuster License
- Experience handling large loss complex claims (e.g., vandalism, foreclosures, liability).
- Certifications such as AINS, CPCU, AIC, or SCLA (or actively pursuing).
- Xactimate Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
- Previous experience in a call center environment.
- Bachelor’s degree.
