About Whitten Regional Center Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This employee performs clerical duties necessary in the functioning of In-Service Training/Staff Development and Volunteer Services. They will provide day-to-day management of the office area and assist with class instruction when applicable. This employee will be asked to assist with Volunteer Services events when needed.
A high school diploma and administrative experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or High School Diploma and two years' experience with previous experience in staff training.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing. Ability to understand and relate positively to consumers, staff, and guests in a professional manner. Ability to be comfortable speaking to and in front of large groups of people. Knowledge of policies and procedures of the Whitten Center facility and of agency policy and procedures.

- CWO - Coordinate and manage Center-wide Orientation (i.e. employee, class, and instructor scheduling), as well as preparation and inventory of orientation materials (i.e. CWO bound book, skills check sheets, demographic reports, required signature sheets, etc.). This position will serve as as assistant Instructor, with possible certifications, provide coverage for other CWO classes, meetings, and Volunteer Services events when necessary.
- In-Service Training/Staff Development and Volunteer Services Communication - receives and relays messages; greets/directs new hires and visitors; and serves as liaison between IST and other Whitten Center departments as well as external agencies. Maintains the calendar and scheduling for groups (internal and external) for IST Classrooms and Volunteer Services events; as well as monitors and reserves needed spaces in the Whitten Center Chapel Conference Room.
- Perform routine tasks for the IST/Staff Development and Volunteer Services area. This includes tasks such as preparing the monthly IST calendar for center-wide distribution; preparing memos, flyers, and other correspondence for IST/Volunteer Services sponsored events; ordering supplies for the office area, work room, and break room; preparing quarterly reports for DDC and other necessary course reports; keeping all communication boards in the IST area up to date with events, and other important employee information; etc.
- IST/Staff Development Training Records - Maintain efficient filing system for IST/Staff Development to include but not limited to Staff Personnel Records, archived training records, current training signature sheets, new hire class rosters, skills check evaluations, etc. Manage the TMS in Therap with all training information - new hire employee info entry, all CWO training classes, on-going training requirements, re-certifications, annual training requirements, etc.
- Annual Training - assist with the date, scheduling, printed materials, uploading of documentation and completion tracking in TMS on Therap. Help ensure that all required training information is included in the packet.
- Other duties as assigned.
