The South College Marietta Campus invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Financial Aid. The Associate Director of Financial Aid position is a full-time staff member who assists in the student financial aid processes and services at the Marietta Campus and reports to the Director of Financial Aid. We are searching for a team-oriented individual with excellent communication and organization skills.
General Responsibilities
- Counsel students and families in person, virtually, or via email or telephone regarding the financial aid application process, need analysis, appeal processing, and financing options/financial literacy.
- Perform verification process for selected students, to include review of required documents and processing corrections to FAFSA data.
- Accurately set up appropriate awards and provide notification to the students and/or parents.
- Coordinates the Special Circumstances and Dependency Override Appeal processes.
- Including the collection, review and initial approval/denial of appeals.
- Maintain a positive, customer service-oriented office atmosphere while providing administrative support and oversight of daily operations.
- Provide management assistance and support to the Director, may serve as acting Director in absence of the Director. Provide assistance with management-level projects and directives. Provide leadership for the strategic planning process for Financial Aid.
- Remain current with federal and state regulatory changes and professional best practices to determine student eligibility for Federal Title IV aid Assist Director with placement of students in the Federal Work-Study Program.
- Assist Director with review of Professional Judgement and Dependency override requests.
- Assist in supervision of Financial Aid Officers, overseeing quality and timely completion of verification and awarding of student aid.
- Assist staff in resolving student issues and concerns.
- Responsible for various electronic reports used to track FAO productivity and completion ratios
- Serve on internal and external committees as needed.
- Complete other assignments as directed by the Director of Financial Aid.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4 or more years of financial aid experience
- Associate’s Degree with 6 years of financial aid experience
- History of working independently to complete projects that require research and attention to detail.
- History of interpreting complex regulations and developing implementation plans to ensure compliance
- Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Advanced in Excel, Outlook; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CampusVue/Education Partners.
- Knowledge of federal systems (CPS, COD, NSLDS).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to meet deadlines and work within a highly computerized environment.
- Working knowledge of regulations governing federal, state and institutional policies regarding the administration of financial aid.
- Positive and collaborative attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (resume will be reviewed for accuracy).
