What You Will Do
This position will be responsible for the improvement and effective administration of seven individual programs within the Division of Criminal Justice Services. Develop and implement a division strategic plan. Provide expert testimony to agency leadership and legislative committees. Provide data, information, and recommendations to leadership on all aspects of the Criminal Justice Services Division. Ensure the division is administered in full compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Maintain several projects from multiple programs with varied deadlines. Solve problems and ensure the division meets the strategic objectives of the Department while remaining fiscally responsible. Most of these duties are completed in an office setting; however, some overnight travel for trainings, meetings, and conferences will be required of this position.

What You Need
The ideal candidate will have knowledge or experience with:
- familiarity with basic accounting and budgeting principles;
- capability to interpret and apply federal regulations and requirements;
- understanding of marketing and project management;
- basic principles, terminology, and use of operations associated with data processing (e.g., Access, Excel, Word, OneNote, Outlook, etc.);
- several years of successful experience leading a workforce;
- criminal justice education and/or background is beneficial.

Pierre, South Dakota is centrally located along the eastern edge of the beautiful Missouri River. Being the state capital, this community has a rich frontier history and offers some of the best outdoor recreation opportunities in the nation. Fishing, hunting, and photography are all popular activities in the area and offer year-round opportunities for residents. Oahe Dam and multiple state parks in the area offer a quick getaway for hiking and biking. Pierre offers the amenities of a larger city but with a small-town feel.
