Duties and Responsibilities :
The STEM Program Specialist for Robotics, Engineering and Technology will support the development of programming associated with Robotics, Engineering, and Technology in alignment with the LASTEM Advisory Council directives and needs of the service area of LASTEM Region 3 under the guidance of the Director of BayouSTEM. The duties of the STEM Center Program Specialist for Robotics, Engineering and Technology include :
- Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the mission, vision and value statement of the College.
- Assist the Director with development and implementation of STEM programs related to robotics, engineering, and technology throughout Region 3 to meet the regional demands.
- Assist the Director with programming, including recruiting, database development for tracking enrolled students, and reporting outcomes of program.
- Manage robotics, technology, or engineering-related grants and sponsorships
- Maintain budgets
- Recruit participants and provide trainings
- Identify and order supplies as needed
- Create progress reports
- Mentor and / or Coach for BayouSTEM Community-Based Robotics Teams, following guidance provided by robotics organizations associated with competition teams (ie, FIRST, SeaPERCH, etc).
- Recruit members for BayouSTEM Community-Based Robotics Teams, including :
- Mentors
- Coaches
- Students
- Volunteers
- Attend STEM-related meetings and professional development opportunities with, or in place of, the STEM Center Director, as requested / required.
- Maintain and update the BayouSTEM website as needed.
- Develop marketing materials for STEM Center Programs.
- Foster, demonstrate, and actively participate in a culture of mutual respect for students, guests, and co-workers from all backgrounds, perspectives and abilities. Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors and utilize appropriate channels of communication within the college community concerning procedures and / or inquiries.
- Attend and participate in scheduled activities, which include graduation, open house / recruiting events as assigned, convocation, and required meetings. Share ideas and information, and work toward common department and College goals.
- Serve on college committees as a member or as chair. Serve on search committees.
- Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness (convocation, LCTCS conference, etc.).
- Represent the college in a manner that promotes a professional and positive image.
- Adhere to College and LCTCS policies.
- Embrace college culture.
- Complete all required assignments prior to deadlines (Fletcher / LCTCS trainings, etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education : Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or STEM education, or an Associate’s degree plus 5 years of STEM related experience.
Preferred Experience : Background in engineering, computer science, technology, or robotics. Experience with coaching / mentoring middle school and high school aged children. Experience in grant management and writing. Experience with development of marketing materials (Canva, Illustrator, etc) for web and social media publication.
