What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respiratory Care Therapist position at South Shore Hospital?
The following duties are to be performed under the supervision of a qualified credentialed Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Perform physician prescribed routine and advanced therapeutic diagnostic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adolescence, adult and geriatric patients.
- Evaluates appropriateness of Respiratory Care Therapy with based upon patient assessment.
- Communicates proposed changes in Respiratory Care Therapies with other members of the healthcare team.
- Provide effective education to patient and co-workers as appropriate.
- Performs diagnostic procedures including arterial punctures, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function, EKG, oximetry, etc.
- Performs emergency and acute Respiratory care procedures in accordance with the quality guidelines in the department policy and procedure.
- Maintain clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice.
- Assembles, checks and corrects malfunctions and performs quality control on equipment.
- Actively participates in departmental quality improvement and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.
- Reviews, collects, and evaluates relevant clinical data on patients.
- Will be responsible for developing respiratory patients plan.
