Database Engineer III

Job Purpose

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for working with the development team to analyze, document and design databases, including referential integrity. Responsibilities also include developing procedures and functions using T-SQL, PL-SQL and other languages. This role will mentor Database Administrators, Developers and Business users on best practices and on SQL and code reviews as well as be responsible for automating database tasks such as data movement, database refreshes, code deployment and database monitoring.

· Ability to read, write and understand complex SQL.

· Critical thinking and ability to troubleshoot complicated issues.

· Ability to multitask while adhering to deadlines.

· Fundamental understanding of major OS platforms such as Linux, Windows and AIX.

· Experience in database platforms such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Redis Cache, SQL Server, Db2, Oracle and Teradata.

· Advanced understanding of Database Security and best practices.

· Advanced understanding of the backup and recovery procedures.

· Ability to model database using tools such as Erwin.

· Ability to code in T-SQL, PL/SQL and other languages.

· Ability to automate processes using languages such as Python, Bash, C#, Java and other languages.

· Ability to code ETL and ELT using programs such as Datastage and Data Factory.

· In-depth understanding of Relational Databases concepts and hands-on experience designing database.

· Ability to monitor and tune on a variety of relational platforms.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred

· Certification in languages such as Python, R, C# and Java.

· Ability to work with Azure Pipelines.

· Experience in retail, warehouse and supply chain management software.

· Azure cloud database or database platform certifications.
