SUMMARY
The Southern Queens Parks Association is looking for an upbeat individual to join the team as an Adult Literacy Computer Instructor for the Workforce program. This program operates under the SQPA umbrella through use of its facilities, programming and thought leaders located at Roy Wilkins Recreation Center.The Adult Literacy Instructor (Computer Literacy) objective is to provide adult learners with essential digital skills to navigate technology confidently in daily life, education, and the workplace.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The instructor will design and deliver engaging lessons, assess learners' progress, and provide individualized support. This role plays a key part in fostering digital inclusion by helping participants build proficiency in computer operations, online communication, and productivity tools, contributing to their overall personal and professional growth.
Primary Job Duties :
Develop and deliver lesson plans that cover basic to advanced computer literacy, including topics such as Basic computer operations (hardware / software) , Typing and keyboarding skills, Using email and internet navigation, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Digital safety, privacy, and security, Cloud-based tools (Google Workspace)
- Customize lessons to meet learners' educational goals, skill levels, and learning styles; incorporate practical, real-world scenarios to ensure learners gain applicable computer skills.
- Assist students with digital literacy goals, such as creating rsums, filling out online applications, and accessing online learning resources.
- Conduct pre-assessments to determine students initial computer skills and learning objectives.
- Maintain detailed records of attendance, participation, and performance.
- Integrate educational software, digital learning tools, and online resources to enhance instruction.
- Introduce students to online learning platforms and support their navigation of digital content.
- Assist with community outreach efforts to recruit new learners.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to enhance program offerings and share best practices.
- Perform other projects assigned at the discretion of the workforce supervisor.
COMPENSATION
Part-time in-person role that will be paid $45 per hour.
