What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Counselor position at Southern Westchester Boces?
PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helping students develop skills needed for academic success including advocacy.
- Assessing students’ abilities and interests and supporting them in developing academic and career goals.
- Collaborating on the design of the Master Schedule.
- Supporting students with post-secondary transition; knowledge of college and vocational programs as well as Access-VR preferred.
- Supporting students in using self-regulation and conflict resolution skills when social and behavioral issues arise.
- Collaborating on the District Wide Counseling Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid New York State Certification as School Counselor.
- Knowledge of APPR & Common Core Standards.
- Competency with eSchool Data program.
- Knowledge of graduation requirements, pathways, and credentials.
- Must possess excellent clinical, verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to handle a large demographic group of diversified students and have knowledge and exposure to social and cultural foundations.
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, school personnel and community partners.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $69,184.00 - $114,111.00 per year
