Title: Elementary Visual Arts Teacher
Location: Southside Elementary
Qualifications: Hold, or be able to obtain, a valid Arkansas Teaching license in the
area of Visual Arts.
Reports To: Building Principal
Responsibilities:
1. Teach course in Visual Arts utilizing course of study approved by the Siloam Springs School District.
- Teach a balanced Visual Arts curriculum.
- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Understand a variety of art techniques.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education.
- Knows and has the ability to apply elements of design and modern principles of art.
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculumto the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings as well as preparation of progress reports in these areas.
- Select and prepare requisitions of books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids as well as maintaining required inventory records.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students' work for the school and the community.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by district administration.
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. This includes maintaining accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Length of Contract: 190 Days
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of staff.
