Job overview:
The objective of this job is to:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Perform patient intake, including taking vital signs and documenting medical histories.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians, while adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide medical administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment to promote a positive patient experience.
- Support coding and billing processes as needed, ensuring accurate documentation for insurance purposes, perform direct patient-care tasks as a medical assistant
- Start as an MA and learn the ropes of our clinic. After gaining experience in the role, become the MA Lead and grow our MA team.
- Scribe: Thoroughly and accurately document provider-patient appointments
- The job is full-time 36-40 hours per week with roughly one, Saturday (5 hour shift) worked per month
Background information: Southwest Family Physicians is a primary care clinic with 20 medical providers composed of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, counselors, physical therapists, an acupuncturist and a licensed massage therapist. In the spirit of the clinic’s comprehensive approach to healthcare, clinic director Dr. Gulick began creating a medical home for patients and their families 32 years ago. We take a holistic approach to health, an example of which is our medically guided weight loss program with a specific focus on lifestyle change.
Job summary: You will be expected to perform medical assistant-type work including rooming patients, acquiring vital signs, giving injections, small procedures (EKG, ear lavages, stitch removal etc.) calling patients to clarify issues/questions, and/or relay lab results.
As a medical scribe, one would be expected to see patients with the provider and to type up the information that is discussed during the visits, assist with ordering lab tests, medication refills, referrals, scheduling appointments and other tasks that expedite and improve patient care. Our providers are fast-paced and enjoy teaching and collaborating with staff. In addition to scribing, We are willing to teach!
Desired skills and competencies:
Preferred:
- Certified Medical Assistant OR
- Bachelor’s degree in health-related area or scribe experience or Medical Assistant experience/certification or EMT with experience
- Previous experience with electronic health record systems
- Basic medical terminology

Desired date of hire: ASAP
Sign on bonus: $1,000 sign on bonus at hire! This bonus will be paid in one lump sum on the next regular scheduled pay date of Southwest Family Physicians. In the event that you leave Southwest Family Physicians before 1 year from your date of hire, you will be responsible for reimbursing the company for this signing bonus and you hereby authorize the company to withhold $1000.00 from your final pay.
