The Opportunity: As the Director of Catering, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our catering events, providing exceptional service, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and excellence. You will lead a dynamic team and collaborate with various departments to create unforgettable experiences for our members and guests.
Duties and Functions:
- Develop and execute the overall catering strategy in alignment with the club's goals and vision.
- Manage and lead the catering team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their event needs and preferences, offering tailored solutions and exceptional service.
- Plan, organize, and oversee various types of events, such as weddings, corporate meetings, banquets, and social gatherings.
- Create and present comprehensive event proposals, including menu selection, décor, and pricing, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Coordinate with culinary and kitchen staff to ensure seamless event execution, including food presentation, quality, and timeliness.
- Maintain effective communication with clients throughout the planning process to address any changes or special requests.
- Manage event budgets, track expenses, and provide accurate financial reports to the management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards during all catering operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends and implement innovative ideas to enhance the catering offerings.
- Attend networking events and actively participate in marketing and promotional activities to attract new clients.
- Handle post-event follow-up, including obtaining feedback from clients and making necessary improvements.
- Collaborate with department heads to coordinate and execute the food and beverage service for member events including golf tournaments, holiday celebrations, themed dinners, and social gatherings while maintaining club standards and traditions.
Qualifications
Qualification Standards:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in catering, event planning, or hospitality management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in event planning software, Microsoft Office suite, and other relevant tools.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships, with a customer-centric mindset.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Knowledge of food and beverage trends, menu planning, and culinary techniques.
- Adept at budget management and financial reporting.
- Professional demeanor and appearance, representing the country club's standards.
