Job Description
Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced Transformer Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning of an autotransformer at their Plattsburgh, NY substation. This is a critical role requiring a candidate with a deep understanding of substation commissioning processes and significant experience in Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems.
The selected candidate will play a key role in developing and managing energization plans, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring the seamless commissioning of the autotransformer in compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership:
- Oversee and lead the commissioning process for an autotransformer, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and project timelines.
- Develop detailed energization plans and ensure their successful execution.
Work Order Development:
- Create, manage, and distribute work orders for testing technicians.
- Ensure that all testing activities are documented, well-organized, and aligned with project requirements.
Process Oversight:
- Manage the full commissioning lifecycle of the substation, including energization, testing, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with personnel to address technical challenges and optimize workflow.
- Compliance and Quality Control:
- Ensure that all commissioning activities adhere to industry standards and safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of commissioning activities, providing reports as needed.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Extensive hands-on experience in I&C commissioning within substations, preferably involving large power transformers or autotransformers.
- Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive energization plans.
- Familiarity with the full commissioning process of a substation.
Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of substation operations, transformer systems, and related electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to interpret complex technical documents and implement best practices in commissioning.
