What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Design Engineer position at Spero Engineering & Architecture?
NOTE: This position is focused primarily in steel or concrete structures. We are primarily using STAADPro and RISA to perform structural analysis. South Carolina is a high seismic zone so experience in seismic analysis is valued.
Must have a solid foundation and experience with designs and calculations.
Job Description:
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to structural engineering design.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct construction document reviews as required.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate structural engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications relating to seismic and wind analyses, foundation design, structural framing analyses and design, and bracing analyses and design.
• Experience in renovating/modifying existing facilities is required.
• Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, related phases of engineering, and field experience in the inspection of construction projects. Professional Engineer License preferred but not required.
