Job Description: 

The LTL Director focuses on managing the customer and carrier relationships, as well as growing their book of business for dedicated LTL accounts. This role requires excellent communication skills, energetic personality, and a strong work ethic. The role will need to have a successful background in sales or account management, and an ability to thrive in a fast pace environment. The ability to comprehend complex situations and foresee what needs to be accomplished to achieve success is essential to this position. Employee will be focused on generating new revenue streams through selling and growing Spot’s LTL (Less than Truckload) services.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the development of the LTL team, with a focus on growing carrier relationships
  • Build and maintain active sales pipeline by qualifying warm leads, cold calling new accounts and growing existing book of business
  • Review and interpret industry data, with the ability to communicate data points to customers
  • Communicate and Execute LTL consolidation model
  • Focus on complex sales and customer issues the company is experiencing, and provide a results-orientated roadmap to overcome these objections.
  • Negotiate rates with customers and carriers.
  • Collaborate with all departments and layers of the organization to provide the best experience that meets the needs of our customers and carriers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in regards to the industry and its various sectors.
  • Serve as the LTL point of contact and Subject Matter Expert for Spot sales team.
  • Utilize 3rd party platforms to provide bulk LTL rates to customers and Spot sales team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Business Management, Logistics or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional sales experience in the logistics or freight industry, 3rd party logistics LTL experience required.
  • High level analytical, organizational, and communication skills and the stamina to use them every day.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, problem solver who takes initiative.
  • Ability to succeed with minimal guidance, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and take initiative under ambiguous circumstances.
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment.
  • Proficient computer skills with PC-based desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel), email, and web-based meeting and presentation applications, as well as TMS.
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays may be required.
