Our Lab Technicians are responsible for receiving, testing, analyzing, recording and reporting results of radon devices. The main duties and responsibilities include:
- Receiving, labeling and safely storing samples to be tested
- Determining and performing tests needed for the analysis and report
- Preparation of samples includes mixing chemical solutions used in the analysis process.
- Recording tests and analyses and then reporting the results
- Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
- Organizing and storing samples in accordance with all safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample
- Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
- Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
- Staying current on technical and scientific advances in their field
- Willingness and ability to read, understand and strictly follow Laboratory SOPs
Additional Skills/Experience Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences, chemical or environmental engineering; three years related experience and/or training working in environmental lab; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Must be detail oriented and extremely organized to keep track of high volume of devices with quick turnaround times.
- Must be able to read and communicate in English to understand SOPs
- Strong computer skills, specifically MS Office and skills in lab information systems desirable.
Requirements
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must be able to wear appropriate PPE to handle toxic or caustic chemicals safely if necessary. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with ease. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
