Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substitute School Nurse to join our team on an as-needed basis. The Substitute School Nurse will provide essential health services to students, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being while promoting a healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate care to students with injuries or illnesses.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Conduct health screenings and assessments.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student health needs.
- Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene and nutrition.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate with local medical services as necessary.
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia; BSN preferred.
- Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Familiarity with health regulations and school health policies.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
